Finley's Tom Hawkins was handed a one-match suspension following Geelong's semi-final win against West Coast at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Hawkins' off-the-ball strike on West Coast's Will Schofield means the power forward will miss Friday's do-or-die preliminary final against Richmond.
AFL match review officer Michael Christian graded the incident, which left Schofield dazed on the ground, as high contact, intentional conduct and low impact.
However, the star Cat was set to challenge the suspension at the tribunal last night to clear his name and become available to face the Tigers.
Named at full-forward in this year's All Australian side, Hawkins is a key part of Geelong's premiership push.
In Friday night's win against the Eagles, Hawkins booted four goals and was involved in seven score involvements.
Cobram's Esava Ratugolea starred alongside Hawkins with three majors, but his big pack marks stole the show, as he held onto four contested grabs.
Meanwhile, Echuca's Sam Reid booked a spot in Greater Western Sydney's preliminary final with Collingwood after his side's semi-final win.
Reid gathered six kicks, five handballs and had five score involvements in the Giants' three-point win against Brisbane on Saturday night at the Gabba.
Reid will line-up this weekend against fellow exports and Collingwood pair, Steele Sidebottom and Jamie Elliott, for a spot in the grand final.
