The Bombers have completed the past three regular seasons undefeated and could make it four if they can defeat fourth-placed Seymour at Kyabram Recreation Reserve tomorrow.
Seymour sits two points clear of Tatura, Rochester and Benalla, and could face dropping out of the top six if a rarity occurs.
The Lions would need to lose and Rochester to draw with Benalla, while Tatura would need to beat Shepparton.
Or they could defeat the premiership favourite and punch their finals ticket.
But the Bombers are flying along nicely, with an average winning margin of 69.9 from their past five wins.
"The past few weeks we've just been looking to keep ticking along," Kyabram co-coach Paul Newman said.
"This time of season everyone wants to be playing their best footy.
"We want to head into finals with some good performances under our belt."
Last time these sides met, the Bombers kept the Lions to one-goal after quarter-time.
That day gun midfielder Mick Mattingly and Brad Whitford starred for the Bombers, while Kayne Pettifer booted six majors.
"We'll take some confidence from that last outing in round seven," Newman said.
"One thing we want to be at our best is our defence.
"Last week we kept Mansfield to one goal in the second half.
"I was proud of our ability to shut down their forward entries."
With Kyabram's defence holding strong, electric forward Kyle Mueller has turned heads at the other end of the ground.
The small forward has kicked 60 goals this season - at an average of four a game - and sits and has overtaken teammate Pettifer to lead the league's goal-kicking.
"Kyle is a very unique footballer," Newman said.
"I haven't seen too many players be able to do some of the things he can do.
"His ability to sit on heads and then next moment zip around and find the ball is extraordinary."
The Bombers are set to welcome back Axel Childs, Luke Morris and Hayden Gemmill for tomorrow's match, while ruckman Jake Reeves is still one week away.
