More than 3000 applications were received for the squad, which was selected after a rigorous 10-month process including initial application, selections, training and trials.
Murray, 14, is returning for a third time as a Ballkid member and said he was still nervous to find out whether he had made it.
“When Mum got the email that said I was going to be a Ballkid I got excited for the summer ahead,” he said.
“I initially wanted to be a Ballkid because I had friends doing it that seemed to really enjoy it.
“I also love playing tennis and watching the Australian Open and I couldn’t think of anything better than being up close to the world’s best tennis.
“I love Thanasi Kokkinakis and Alex De Minaur but I would also love to be on court for someone like Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal as they are such greats of the sport.”
Applications for the Australian Open 2021 Ballkids program are now open.
