FRONTLINE workers and aged care staff and residents in Rochester and surrounds will be able to access the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at health services in the Loddon Mallee region in the coming weeks.
A Bendigo Health spokesperson confirmed the news, saying doses would be available in stages.
“Bendigo Health is a COVID-19 vaccination hub for the Pfizer vaccine,” they said.
“Our role is to give the COVID-19 vaccine across the Loddon Mallee region to groups in stages outlined by the Commonwealth.
“Quarantine and border workers, frontline health care workers working in COVID testing sites, COVID wards, Intensive Care Units, Emergency Departments, aged care and disability care staff, paramedics, GPs and aged care and disability care residents will be included in the first phase of vaccinations.
“The Pfizer vaccine requires storage in ultra-low temperatures and will be given to healthcare workers in the Loddon Mallee region, including Rochester, at their health service via an outreach model.
“The Public Health Unit will oversee the vaccination program across the Loddon Mallee region.”
