The fire danger period is officially over for those in Gannawarra, Loddon and Campaspe shires.
The shires’ fire danger periods officially concluded at 1am on Monday, March 23.
CFA District 20 operations manager Peter Taylor emphasised that while the fire danger period had ended, it was important to remain vigilant.
“Residents that wish to conduct burn-offs on their private properties need to follow some basic rules: register your burn-offs first and foremost, check weather conditions including monitoring the wind, and follow local council laws and regulations,” he said.
“Registering your burns ensures that if someone reports smoke, the incident will be cross-checked with the burn-off register, which will prevent CFA crews wasting resources and showing up at your door.”
Landowners can register their burn-offs by calling 1800 668 511 or emailing burnoffs@esta.vic.gov.au
In order to register you will need to provide location, date, expected start and finish times, estimated size and what you intend to burn.
