Mr O’Connor started off in the car industry as a service technician, which led to a service manager role and eventually expanding into a position at O’Connors.
With 12 years under his belt working at O’Connors, eight as service manager and four as branch manager, Mr O’Connor understands the ebb and flow of providing the best for their customers.
“There are customers that were here before us and still here now, so it’s a long-term relationship you have with your customers, between keeping them, keeping customers happy and just building that relationship so they come back,” he said.
During this time Mr O’Connor also discovered an appreciation for the company and its customers.
“For me, it’s the customer interaction relationship and the company,” he said.
“It's a family company and family orientated, so they really focus on the personal touch, your relationships with your customers, having a great relationship business and the friendship side of it as well.
“So you get to know your customers pretty well and the company as a whole is just great.”
Spearheading the move into the new O’Connors Shepparton building, Mr O’Connor is keen for the new space, saying it works alongside the company’s efforts to expand and provide customers with the best service.
“The new building is just a part of the expansion of the company.
“The showroom areas will be bigger, more office space, the parts warehouse is quite large and the service department is probably doubled in size.
“In the last probably five years, or six years or thereabouts, O’Connors has gone from six dealerships to 15, so it's a massive expansion.
“They look for opportunities and areas where they can grow — they're a very active company.”
