Mitch has a strong connection to the region, often spending time with his father, Bulldogs legend Stephen, and mother, Sue, on the family farm at Tallarook.
“Given my passion and love of good food and wine, I’m delighted and grateful to become an ambassador for Tastes of the Goulburn,” he said.
“I’m also excited to be taking part in the Producer’s Kitchen. It will be a great opportunity to share the kitchen with other locals.”
Tastes of the Goulburn committee spokesperson Nina Stocker said it was terrific to have Mitch on board.
“We are delighted to welcome Mitch as an ambassador to this iconic event,” she said.
“He is an incredible role model having carved a very successful career in the AFL at the highest level, and is passionate about the region and what it produces.”
Tastes of the Goulburn will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 10am to 5pm, along Station St, Seymour.
The event will showcase winemakers, brewers, restaurateurs, producers, distillers, growers, chefs, musicians and entertainers from the Mitchell Shire, Goulburn Valley, Upper Goulburn, Nagambie Lakes and Strathbogie regions.
Entry is $35 and includes a tasting glass. The first 1000 tickets purchased will also receive a Tastes of the Goulburn tote bag.
Visitors from the south can catch a vintage steam train that leaves from Southern Cross Station or, if coming from the north, catch one of the buses travelling to and from Shepparton.
