Greater Shepparton has been announced as a finalist in the Victorian Tourism Awards and council is urging members of the community to cast their votes before Tuesday, May 31, to name Shepparton the Top Tourism Town.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our city to share the love and appreciation we have for local music, proud Indigenous history and culture, award-winning and unique museums and our booming dining scene,” Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said.
Greater Shepparton has been recognised as a top regional tourism through the Cultural Immersion Itinerary.
The itinerary showcases the local arts scene with a Spotify playlist ‘Tunes From 3630’ and a visit to MOVE, SAM and Kaiela Arts and the street and silo art trails in the surrounding smaller towns.
Visitors can head to the Botanic Gardens, and appreciate Yorta Yorta culture with a walk on The Flats and fishing with the Burnanga Indigenous Fishing Club.
Not to mention the wide range of multicultural cuisine on offer throughout the region.
“Our local businesses and community groups have worked especially hard to grow the tourism offering for our region and this award showcases those incredible efforts on a state and national platform,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
Voters will be in the draw to win a weekend in Melbourne, including two nights’ accommodation, dining vouchers and tickets to the LUME exhibition.
The award-winning towns will be announced in July.
