The Broadford and District Historical Society has been awarded $14,000 from the Victorian Government’s Local History Grants Program.
The money will be used for the digitisation of the Broadford Courier editions from 1951 to 1965. It is intended to help capture Broadford’s diverse history, making it available for more people to discover and enjoy.
Local history projects help Victoria’s history reach the community through interactive online exhibitions, podcasts, e-books, history apps and oral histories.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes supported the funding.
“The Broadford and District Historical Society is a great local asset to our community,” Ms Symes said.
“Passionate volunteers play a vital role in preserving our local history and we’re proud to back groups like the Broadford and District Historical Society in continuing this important work.”
Forty projects share $350,000 as part of the program run by Public Record Office Victoria to support organisations in preserving, recording and sharing Victoria’s local history.
