Almost 40 members will take the stage this Saturday, June 18 in a matinee performance.
Music director Steven Sargant said the performance was branching into using multimedia formats to showcase the orchestra and give an immersive experience.
“We’ve done a few things differently this year,“ he said.
A majority of the orchestra members made their way up Mount Major near Dookie — instruments and all — to record a backing video, which will be projected across the background of the performance.
Mr Sargant said rehearsals had been going well in the lead-up to what he called an “ambitious program”.
“The show has emerged quite well, we’ve ended up with a program filled with a few major works and some smaller pieces to balance it out,” he said.
The concert will include two premiere performances composed by members Wade Gregory and Eric Andersen, and accompaniment of the voices of 36 Degrees South Choir.
Mr Andersen has also arranged a collection of five Ukrainian folk songs in support of the war-torn country.
The annual concert will mark GVCO’s 26th year of uniting local musicians, showcasing an array of skill levels and ages.
The performance will take place at Riverlink Eastbank, Shepparton, on Saturday, June 18 at 2pm.
