Students from Barooga public school led a call to commemoration, standing and speaking to the community.
The ceremony was conducted by Cobram and Barooga RSL Senior Vice-President, Vic Robinson, followed by the last post bugler and a minute's silence.
The 2025 Cobram Barooga Remembrance Day service was attended by RSL members, school students and other community members.

A crowd of community members lined up to lay beautifully made wreaths at the memorial.
Both the New Zealand and Australian national anthem were sung with pride followed by a prayer, led by Father Junjun Amaya.
The catafalque party then marched, and students from St Mary of the Angel’s Secondary College did a reading of “In Flanders Fields.”
Robert Darrel Brown attended the service, wearing his medals with pride.
He served in Vietnam at just 20-years-old.

Mr Brown spent two years in the army and said he never wanted to go to Vietnam but didn’t have a choice.
“They said do you want to go to Vietnam, I said no, and they said well you're going,” he said.
“But I met a bloke over there, and we are still friends to this day.”
Mr Brown has been attending the Cobram Barooga Remembrance Day service for over 25 years and said the day held a very special place in his heart as a time for him to remember all his mates.
Reflecting on where he is in life now, at 80-years-old, he thanked his wife for always looking after him
“Life’s pretty good,” he said.
To mark the day, Cobram Barooga RSL wellbeing officer Denise Rowe and secretary Rosa Perri had their nails painted in honour of fallen soldiers.

Their nails were matching, coloured red and white with pictures of poppies and soldiers alongside the words “Lest we forget.”
If there is one thing to take away from this important day, it is the way the community came together, from school students to RSL members, to commemorate all those who fought for us.
