The $2 million library is under construction, with the community campaign set to kick off next week.
The current library is located in the old Rodney Shire building and is old and rundown, with the new library set to include much better facilities.
Tatura Library Community Fundraising committee chairman Carl Walters said the campaign would help ensure the library was fitted out with modern furniture and other state-of-the-art features.
“We are upgrading and expanding the library to a new architecturally designed, modern building. The existing furniture is old and tired and just will not suit the new library,” he said.
“A community contribution was always planned as part of the project funding package and now we need the community to put their hand up and say ‘We want our library to be great'.”
Greater Shepparton City Council has committed funds to the project, with $600 000 in state funding also committed to the library, which will be built by BLR Provincial Construction.
The committee is also exploring funding options through the Federal Government.
The fundraising campaign will be launched on Wednesday, February 26 at 10 am at the temporary library site at 155A Hogan St, Tatura.
