Join rangers for a guided walk among ancient river gums along the Goulburn River

You may be able to talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?Shepparton community members are invited to join Parks Victoria rangers on a free guided walk along the heritage-listed Goulburn River at Jordan's Bend in Shepparton Regional Park on Saturday, February 29.Parks Victoria community engagement ranger Emma Banting said the walk was a perfect way to enjoy nature, meet new friends and get some gentle exercise.“Walking in a group isn’t just good for meeting new people, it can improve your quality of life, keep your heart healthy, strengthen your muscles and bones and help you maintain a healthy weight,” she said.“Just spending 20 minutes in a park has been shown to reduce stress levels and improve mood.”“So, if you are feeling stressed, let nature relax and restore your body and mind in a group of like-minded people,” Ms Banting said.Walkers can marvel at the huge river red gums that are hundreds of years old and home to rare squirrel gliders — arguably the cutest type of gliders in existence — along with cockatoos, galahs and parrots.The 3.1 km 45-minute walk is easy, flat and pram-friendly, with seats available along the way.Meet the friendly rangers at Jordan's Bend car park off Jordan Place Shepparton at 10 am for an 11 am finish.For more information call Parks Victoria on 13 1963 or email
