“There’s something very special about singing to audiences which are unaccustomed to live opera,” Ms Russell said.
The Australian opera singer will perform alongside world-renowned guitarist Massimo Scattolin for their show, Music Under The Stars.
The event will be at Euroa Butter Factory, February 7 from 6.30 pm.
Ms Russell, who has more than fifty operatic roles in her repertoire, said she was looking forward to the performance.
She has sung with Opera Australia, as well as all the state opera companies and major symphony orchestras around the country.
“I’ve played with Massimo a number of times and he is just so talented; musically we’re very compatible,” she said.
Despite feeling right at home on stages in the USA, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, Ms Russell makes sure she includes performances in regional Australia in her schedule.
“I performed in Cohuna last year and it remains one of my favourite memories, in fact I get emotional thinking about it.
“They had small children filling the front rows. These kids were just spellbound because they’d never seen anything like it. It was a very moving experience.”
The evening, which includes dinner, is this year’s annual fundraiser for Euroa Health.
Tickets can be purchased through TryBooking or from reception at Euroa Health, Kennedy St, Euroa. For more information, call 5795 0200.
