New parking inspectors could begin in Greater Shepparton

By Ashlea Witoslawski

New parking inspectors could soon begin pounding the pavement of Shepparton's CBD streets, with a new contract advertised by Greater Shepparton City Council.

Advertised last week, council is looking for parking enforcement services, which may or may not include parking administration support.

Council currently employs Melbourne-based company Tenix Solutions, which was awarded a temporary contract this year after a decision was made to outsource the previously local operation in January.

The last of the council-employed parking inspectors finished up at the end of May.

According to a spokesperson, council is required to put the contract out to tender upon its completion whether it would like to continue with the current contractor or not.

Council told the News in August it was satisfied with the works undertaken by Tenix Solutions despite community frustration and complaints at the time regarding unfair infringements being issued.

The new contract is for three years, with the possibility of a two-year extension at council's discretion.

Tenders are open until January 22 and a selection will be made soon after.
