Female cancer patients in Shepparton will receive a much-needed boost this Christmas.
Those receiving treatment at GV Health's Peter Copulos Cancer and Wellness Centre will be gifted a $100 voucher thanks to a generous donation from Soroptimist International of Shepparton Inc.
The group raised $5000 for the oncology department and were guided by GV Health staff as to what the funds would be best used for.
Group member Pam Ewert said they raised money for local charities and organisations throughout the year through a range of activities.
GV Health Foundation director Carmel Johnson said the group had been incredibly generous over the years, also paying for a scalp cooling machine for cancer patients three years ago.
“Thank you to the Soroptomists for their fantastic support,” she said.
“For such a long time they have been a supporter of GV Health and all things associated with women.
“Our ladies would not have benefitted the way they have without your support.”
GV Health breast cancer nurse Melissa Gilmour said she could not put into words how much the donation meant to the oncology department and its patients.
“What (they've) done is just so amazing,” she said.
“It will make such a difference to the lives of our patients.”
