Shepparton Riding for the Disabled recently received a generous donation from the Shepparton East Bowls Club.
The club raised $2000 at its annual Oaks Day fundraiser last month, with member Bev Hewlett presenting the cheque recently.
Shepparton RDA secretary Cathy Hamilton said the presentation took place under the watchful eye of horse team member Molly.
“Molly's other very important task was to help Santa find his way to Shepparton RDA as part of our annual Christmas Party,” she said.
Ms Hamilton said Shepparton RDA, which has finished riding for the year, would use the donation to continue with improvements at the centre, including the development of a new amenities block.
RDA enables people with disabilities to experience enjoyment, challenge and a sense of achievement through participation in equestrian activities.
Across Victoria, RDA conducts 10,000 riding lessons a year.
“Volunteers and riders at Shepparton RDA would like to thank Shepparton East Bowls Club for their continued support, because without community support such as this Shepparton Riding for the Disabled would not exist,” Ms Hamilton said.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Shepparton RDA phone Cathy Hamilton on 5826 5177. Horse experience is not essential, as volunteer training is available.
