Sustainability expert Vanessa Petrie will be in Shepparton this week to explain the work of Beyond Zero Emissions.
Ms Petrie will first speak publicly at the Shepparton campus of La Trobe University tonight and then tomorrow at the Goulburn Valley University of the Third Age.
Her presentation is titled ‘Future proofing Australia: how renewables can power our economy and wellbeing'.
Ms Petrie, who is also a director of the Goulburn Valley Waste and Resource Recovery Group, has broad experience in leading policy, strategy and infrastructure planning, specialising in sustainability.
She joined the Melbourne-based Beyond Zero Emissions early in 2017 and has worked with her team to complete and launch a host of reports: Rethinking Cement; Electrifying Industry; The 10 Gigawatt Vision; the Zero Carbon Communities Guide; the 2018 Local Government Climate Review; and now, Repowering Collie.
Ms Petrie aims to bring people, knowledge and ideas together to spark the change she says “we need in a zero carbon world”.
Today's free event at La Trobe University starts at 6.30 pm.
Her visit to Shepparton has been arranged by local climate activist group Slap Tomorrow, and questions about what is arranged should be directed to committee member Robert McLean by phoning 0400 502 199.
