Organised by Toolamba Lions with the support of Greater Shepparton City Council and Toolamba Fishing Club, the clean-up drew about 100 volunteers.
The only dampener on the day for the volunteers was finding dumped rubbish on the side of Bridge Rd and near the Goulburn River.
Couches, car bumpers, tyres, mattresses, cans, bottles, carpet, rusty metal and pot plants were among the items found by the helpers.
Toolamba Lions president Heather Mulcahy said the aim was to get as many townspeople as possible involved with the clean-up.
"The fishing club have about 25 people at the river cleaning up around there.
"Council and the parks people are involved supplying bags, water, gloves and a skip,'' Mrs Mulcahy said.
"It's a Lions community event that benefits the whole town. There are families who have come along and you don't just have to be a member of Lions to help out, so it's great to see.''
