Goulburn Valley Health will receive $213.79 million while the other $23.79 million will improve health care at Nathalia, Cobram and Numurkah Health.
GV Health chief executive Matt Sharp said the funding would see a broad range of health and wellbeing services provided across the catchment.
“GV Health appreciates the ongoing support of the state government as we continue to provide the best possible care and treatment for people in our community,” Mr Sharp said.
“It is an exciting time for GV Health as the redevelopment at Graham St, Shepparton, continues and this will allow us to expand our services in the next one to two years.”
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp made the funding announcement on Monday. He said the government was backing doctors and nurses in Shepparton.
“There’s nothing more important than the peace of mind that world-class care is just around the corner when you or a loved one is sick,” Mr Gepp said.
“We’re making sure all Victorian families can get that care.”
The government said this year’s funding had increased by $15.33 million from last financial year for GV Health and $1.35 million for NCN Health.
The announcement was part of a record $12.2 billion investment into Victorian hospitals and health services in a bid to treat more patients, provide better health care and meet the needs of Victoria’s growing population.
Regional Victoria will also benefit from the government providing 500,000 specialist appointments and providing free dental care for the state’s public schools.
The government also aims to recruit more nurses, midwives and paramedics to treat the two million patients who are expected to be treated in Victorian hospitals during the next year.
