Three men are accused of bashing another man to death with fence paling and a garden pick following a road-rage incident in suburban Melbourne.
Josaia Bolalailai and Nathan Timoteo, both aged 22, and 20-year-old Jonathan Fuatavai are charged with murdering the 24-year-old man at St Albans on Thursday night.
Bolalailai, Timoteo and Fuatavai allegedly beat him unconscious with fence paling, a metal garden pick and a wooden handle before he died at the scene.
Prosecution documents say the alleged victim was murdered while trying to retrieve a phone stolen in an earlier road-rage incident.
The accused killers did not apply for bail when they appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday charged with murder and intentionally causing serious injury.
They have been remanded in custody to reappear in court via video link on June 26.
