Kyabram appoints new bowls coach

KYABRAM Bowls Club is looking forward to re-establishing itself as a bowls powerhouse after the appointment of a new coach.

Dane Gade was appointed as coach by a club sub-committee at the weekend and at 27 years of age he will be the youngest coach to take charge at the club.

Gade has spent the past two years coaching Keysborough’s division one side in Melbourne but a change in job location opened the way for the Kyabram appointment.

He is now living in Cobram where he works as an environmental health officer.

Gade said he was impressed by Kyabram’s desire to return as a force in Goulburn Valley pennant bowls and its willingness to adapt to changes he will employ in an endeavour try to achieve it.

He said he wanted to introduce younger players to the sport and would look at an August training start to prepare for the 2020-21 pennant season.

He plans to hold two weekly training sessions.

Kyabram Bowls Club’s division one side missed the finals earlier this year for the first time in a quarter of a century.

Since the early 1990s it has collected 23 men's flags and 11 ladies flags over all grades.
