League chief Fraser Kerrins did not take any backward steps on hearing of the Cats’ successful appeal, claiming his league had been ‘‘undermined’’ and Ardmona ‘‘can’t be allowed to continue the way it’s been for the past 10 years’’.
Kerrins said the league had ‘‘worked damn hard as a league’’ and in Ardmona’s situation ‘‘enough was enough’’.
Kerrins acknowledged Ardmona had paid the $20 000 it had owed the league but expressed personal doubts about whether the Cats could prove financially viable and competitive in the future despite the appointment of its high-profile new coach, Hawthorn premiership player and Brownlow Medallist Shane Crawford.
Crawford, 45, has not ruled out pulling on the boots again.
