It just so happens that the Kyabram Town Hall Writers’ Group is seeking submissions for an anthology set to be published in 2021.
Planned for release in time for International Women’s Day on March 8, the anthology’s editors are on the hunt for original stories featuring women in any genre or writing style.
Group facilitator Maria Radanov said the broad theme was designed to encourage as many different local talents as possible to submit their works.
“We didn’t want to be too specific about what part of women’s life and experience we should write about, so we’ve opened that up completely. Any story, any piece of prose or poetry by anybody is welcome, as long as at some point it features women,” she said.
“You don’t have to be Shakespeare, you just have to be able to put your thoughts together and write them down on a piece of paper … and if you’re worried about technicalities and grammar, we’ve got an editing team that can help with that.”

Maria said the group had already received several submissions but needed several more to make the project a reality.
“We know a few locals and never would have known they were interested in writing, so that’s a wonderful thing. It’s great to know that this has encouraged people to get out there. We’re also getting other contributions from the wider shire and beyond,” she said.
Contributors must be over the age of 18 and stories must be under 2000 words.
Submissions can be sent to kyabramwritersgroup@gmail.com or delivered to the Kyabram Town Hall at 199 Allan St, Kyabram.
Submissions close on November 1, 2020.
