Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp recently welcomed the latest announcement of round two funding for local non-government schools for projects such as building new schools, increasing capacity or upgrading facilities at existing schools.
“Every student across northern Victoria deserves access to great school facilities; and with more than a third of Victorian students attending non-government schools they’ll be sharing in our record investment,” he said.
“We’re building the Education State by delivering record funding across both government and independent schools — to make sure all kids get the best facilities to learn and thrive.”
The fund also supports removal of asbestos and cladding in these schools.
Last year, round one of the fund delivered more than $73 million in funding to 28 projects in the Catholic and independent school sectors across Victoria.
This four-year contribution to non-government schools more than triples the capital funding support provided to the sector since 2015.
The funding is part of a record $1.82 billion investment in Victoria’s education infrastructure in the 2019-20 Victorian budget.
Non-government schools can apply for grants between $50,000 and $5 million.
