From Roger the ringtail, Prince the python and Wink the one-eyed kangaroo to dingo puppies Yula and Dipa — which mean ‘hill’ and ‘chest’ or ‘heart’ in Yorta Yorta — animals and Fauna Park staff came to meet Kyabram's only professional speed boat, The Wedge.
The racing team of aquaholics behind The Wedge consists of Scott Collins and David Atley from Kyabram, Craig Cox from Tongala and Matt Henderson from Melbourne.
The Wedge's list of wins includes the 2017 GTS Mildura 100 70mph expert class, the Sydney Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Classic and qualifying fastest at the Ted Hurley Memorial Classic, as well as the Robinvale 80 and Mildura 100.
With an impressive four-out-of-five wins last season, the F2 300 outbound Mercury 12ft boat has come second in Southern 80's 70mph expert race three years in a row.
And this year they have their eyes on the main prize at Moama Watersports Club's Southern 80 on February 7 to 9.
“We're definitely going to give it our best shot this year and we're looking forward to the challenge,” team member Scott Collins said.
“The Southern 80 is a difficult course but we'll be putting in lots of practice to get to the podium this year.”
The Wedge will be available for viewing at the Kyabram Fauna Park during the week leading up to the Southern 80.
