The money will be used to restore stonework and gutting, install lights and replace mortar joints in support of the Rushworth RSL sub branch.
Announced by Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes on Tuesday, November 12, the upgrade is one of 84 across the state aiming at supporting veterans.
“This funding is wonderful for Rushworth RSL sub branch, they do amazing work supporting our veterans — they deserve an extra helping hand,” Ms Symes said.
“We must never forget the service of our veterans — they are the reason we enjoy the freedoms we do today.”
Minister for Veterans Robin Scott applauded the grants.
“We’re working hard to protect the legacy of our veterans and pass it on for future generations,” Mr Scott said.
“Our veterans fought hard for our shared values and remembering their stories reminds us to take stock of that sacrifice and pay tribute.”
The Rushworth War Memorial includes a clock tower erected in 1926 and an Honour Roll to commemorate those who died while serving during World War I and World War II.
