Wearne sisters add to family’s trophy cabinet

HEATHCOTE golfer Stephanie Wearne just can't stop winning.

Just days after winning the Victorian Family Championship with her mother Tristen, Stephanie followed it up with a win at the Victorian Women's Foursomes Championships alongside her sister Chelsea.

The pair finished their round at Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne, five shots clear of their nearest rivals despite registering a score of +14.

And Stephanie couldn't contain her excitement when asked what the win meant to her.

“It's incredible, there isn't too many sports around where you can play at a high level alongside your family,” she said.

“Chelsea and myself have played lots of rounds together but never as a team, so it's certainly something I'll never forget.

“You look at the previous winners of the event and some of those people have gone onto achieve special results on and off the course.

“To sit alongside them is a great feeling.”

Despite the pair having just achieved their feat, Stephanie said they are already looking at a return next year.

“It would be great if we are able to get back out on the course as a team,” she said.

“In the past, we've played in the mixed event but both of our partners were overseas so we thought to give something different a go.

“Maybe they'll have to play as their own team next year."
