The Goulburn Valley this morning received its first rain for 37 days.
And Kialla farmer Ross Tainton, pictured with his dog ‘Mac’, was delighted.
He was praising the heavens in the hope the showers signalled the end of the Goulburn Valley's long dry spell.
A total of 8 mm had fallen up until noon.
It is only the fourth day this year on which rain has fallen.
Thew other falls have been 27 mm in January, 0.2 mm in February and 22.4 mm on March 7.
Since the last week in November only 60.4 mm has been recorded at the Lemnos Weather Station.
The long dry spell has meant the cartage of thousands of litres of water for farmers who have run short of supplies.
The dry weather has been accompanied by exceptionally high temperatures for mid-April.
Sunday's maximum temperature was 30.5 degrees, Monday's 31 and yesterday's top reading was 30 degrees.
