The Cats played against Katamatite on Saturday at Katamatite in the semi finals which saw the away side win by three wickets.
After losing to Katamatite twice this year, the Cats were ready for a third time lucky victory, although it got off to a rough start with the home side winning the toss and electing to bat first.
The Cats got their semi finals campaign off to a strong start, opening with spinner Adnan Malik (2/15 off eight) and Anthony King (2/20 off six).
King struck within the first over, dismissing opening batsman Benjamin Lucas (0), caught by Matt Wilson at deep mid wicket off a failed pull shot.
Opening batsman Matt Wright (11) and Katamatite captain Glen Edis (11) provided some stability to the top order for a short while, although scoring at a snails pace, ensuring they kept wickets in hand.
Malik was able to strike through however, taking Wright's wicket caught at point by Archie Mason.
Runs were hard to come by for the home side with sharp fielding highlighted by Mason and Harrison King.
Lachlan Sharp (35 not out) was brought in to face the first change bowling of Wilson (2/18 off eight) and Ryan Donkin (0/6 off two).
Wilson struck with his swing bowling as the ball feathered off Edis’ bat through to a leaning catch from Dan Hughes at second slip, taking the home side 3/27.
Katamatite were unable to weather the bowling onslaught that followed with Paul Massingham (3/16 off eight), Archie Mason (1/10 off six) who both polished off the middle and bottom order bastman.
A total of 22 runs were made from the final seven batsman, bowled all out for 95 runs in the 35th over.
The Cats opened with last week's pair of Russell Anderson (25) and Donkin (six) who managed to last the opening two overs of swing and pace from Bradley Parnell (0/9 off eight) and Stefan Nordbye (1/29 off eight).
Nordbye struck first with Donkin clean bowled bringing Ben Spence (five) in to the crease.
Spence and Anderson held out against the economic bowling of Parnell before a change in bowling saw Spence dismissed off Daniel Emmi (1/21 off five) to a loose cut shot.
In order to make the runs swiftly, the Cats changed their batting order, bringing Paul Massingham (two) in at second drop.
This tactic didn't work out however, with Massingham falling early off the bowling of Daniel Parnell (2/9 off seven).
A true captain's knock took place next with Urqhuart (36 not out) coming in to guide the Cats to victory despite a three wicket haul from Ben Lukies (3/25 off six).
Archie Mason stepped in with six runs needed off five overs, walloping a slog sweep to the boundary for four.
The winning runs came the very next ball off a smart leave by Mason (four not out) who watched the ball carry through the slips, running out four for the win, finishing 7/98 off 25.
A 2019 grand final rematch is now set this weekend as Katunga beat top of the table Deniliquin at Tocumwal.
The 2020 grand final will be played at Tocumwal Recreation Reserve starting at 1pm this Saturday.
The Cats are inviting all to come down and support the local team and cheer them on to a potential back to back championship.
