The licensees and staff of Jerilderie’s Colony Inn Hotel recently received a quick visit from Sandra Markey.
Sandra is the daughter of Warren Skelton, who was the first owner of the Colony Inn Hotel/Motel.
Sandra and family were returning to Newcastle and dropped in for a “nostalgia visit”, asking to be remembered to Paul Ryan.
Just to refresh your memories: in the late 1970s Warren had purchased the Royal Hotel, which then stood on the corner where the Colony Inn is situated, and had people ready to move in to run the business, when the building was gutted by fire in 1979.
After the fire Warren undertook to re-build, in its present design.
Sandra and her husband Barry helped run the business for a number of years, with their children attending one of the local schools.

Best wishes and safe travel to Ben Anthony and fellow Finley High School students who left on Monday for a 20 day trip to America. What a wonderful experience that will be.
