Located on Strathvale Rd, it will allow all heavy vehicles to divert away from the Berrigan town centre along the Riverina Hwy.
The bypass was officially opened last week by Berrigan Shire Mayor Matthew Hannan.
‘‘The Riverina Highway intersection should have much less traffic,” he said.
“It should have a significant impact on the livability and safety of road users in the area.
“With the noise of the heavier vehicles now being diverted, it should also have an impact on the noise pollution.”
Kelvin Baxter Transport managing director Kelvin Baxter said he was pleased the bypass had opened.
“The major advantage is that it keeps trucks from having to turn at the main intersection coming into town,” he said.
