Finley PS put strong minds to good use

By Daniel Hughes

Finley Public School proved it has some of the strongest minds in the region as they participated recently in the Tournament of the Minds regional finals in Wagga Wagga.

Six weeks ago the students were given long term challenges to solve using a variety of teamwork and skills in art, music, drama, science, technology and mathematics.

It all came down to regional finals day, where Finley PS teams, STEM and Arts, presented their Long Term Challenge solutions to a team of judges with team STEM being awarded second place honours.

The teams also participated in a spontaneous challenge on the day which required the students to use various creative thinking and teamwork skills to solve the problem.

The tournament was celebrated with major success due to contributions from Mrs Scott and Mrs Haynes as co-facilitators of the Tournament of Minds Program as well as the students’ parents who supported the program with late Thursday afternoon pick-ups, snacks for the teams and helping with the road trip to Wagga.
