The program is set up to provide a means of funding to increase the equality of opportunity for women and girls within sporting communities.
The grant provides up to $2.6 million over four years in an attempt to assist sports programs with trying new strategies and initiatives to incorporate more participation, leadership and capability for all ages of females in sport.
In order to be eligible for the grant, clubs must prove their ideas can increase the number of women and girls playing sport and improve the retention of adolescent girls, build the number of female to take leadership roles both on and off the field and to build gender inclusive sporting cultures and environments within the club.
Berrigan Shire Mayor Matt Hansen outlines many projects that have already been undertaken in the last 10 years to improve and implement facilities in the shire to promote equal opportunity in sport.
"The Council has worked hard to overcome some of the barriers involved with women’s sport with a focus on providing suitable facilities," Mayor Matt Hansen said.
"Over the past 10 years, this includes constructing the first dedicated netball change rooms at Berrigan Sportsground and Finley Recreation Reserve and construction of new netball courts at Tocumwal and Berrigan.
"Over the next six months, the Council is constructing new netball social and change rooms at Tocumwal Recreation Reserve and new change rooms for junior soccer at Finley Showgrounds, including dedicated change rooms for women and girls."
Grants are available for all organisations to apply from $5000 - $50,000 of funding and applications are now open until 16 September 2019.
