Hosted by Edward River Council, the family fun night was held at the Blighty Hotel and featured a screening of the hit Aussie move Storm Boy.
As a drought relief event, attendees also had access to a wealth of helpful information.
And former Richmond AFL player Neville Brady, as guest speaker, shed light on how to stay positive during the tough times our farming communities are facing.
It was one of three events being held in the Edward River Council region, and Mayor Norm Brennan said Mr Brady would also deliver his message at Pretty Pine and Conargo in coming weeks.
‘‘Neville is an experienced speaker who delivers important messages with humour and insight,’’ Cr Brennan said.
‘‘He will also touch on ways to stimulate better relationships and work practices.
‘‘It is a great opportunity for local families to come together for a meal, a laugh, and a movie while also putting their boots up for the night and enjoying a much-needed break.’’
The remaining two events will also feature a barbecue dinner and indoor screening.
The Pretty Pine event will be held at the hotel from 5.30pm on Friday, August 2. The feature film will be the comedy Instant Family.
The Conargo event will be held at the Memorial Hall on Friday, August 9, also from 5.30pm. The film will be the family favourite, A Dog’s Purpose.
Edward River Council secured funding through Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network’s community grants program to deliver the events.
