Wanganui students refine their Italian

By James Bennett

A bunch of Wanganui Park Secondary College students have swapped the warm Shepparton weather for the cooler Italian climate.

The annual 29-day cultural tour began last month and includes an 11-day home stay with a family.

The students will also visit Pisa, Modena, Florence, Venice and Milan.

The students are reportedly having a "great time" and enjoying the snow near the alps.

In addition to sight-seeing, the students will continue to work on their Italian by taking classes.

This is the last time Wanganui Park Secondary College is running the tour to Italy; however, the trips are expected to continue under the Greater Shepparton Secondary College banner.

Although the students are well into the trip, there is time to help offset the costs by purchasing the cook book Wanganui Fusion — A Union of Cultures Through Food.

The book includes about 150 classic family recipes and is a perfect Christmas gift at just $25.

Proceeds go back to the current tour.

There will be stalls selling the cookbook set up at IGA on Saturday, December 14, from 10 am until 2 pm and Tuesday, December 17 from 5 pm until 8 pm.

The cookbooks will also be on sale at the Farmers’ Market at Emerald Bank on Sunday, December 22, from 9 am until 1 pm.
