For the first time in months, owners will be able to return to the track in limited numbers in line with Racing Victoria's new COVID-19 restrictions.
Up to 20 owners will be able to come into the track per race, and will be required to leave as soon as the race finishes in order to allow the next group to come in.
ERC general manager Garry Armstrong said it would be a great day for the club.
“The ERC is delighted to have owners back,” he said.
“This will be the first small step toward, hopefully, having crowds back for our spring racing. Racing Victoria has made this possible through the introduction of strict COVID-19 protocols for owners.
“The ERC has submitted its own COVID plan, that covers the risk factors, sees the owners and the racing participants remaining separate, at all times, sees the implementation of numerous hygiene stations, social distancing and the relevant COVID signage.”
The event will again have a strong field, with 519 nominations put forward for the seven-race card, with Armstrong expecting a heavy track.
“With the wet weather, last week combined with the foggy days, the track is rated a heavy eight as of Tuesday,” he said.
“With the forecast of showers around leading into the weekend, this rating won't change much, hopefully we get back into the slow range for Saturday.”
The event is likely to also have its typically strong local contingent, with Darryl and Rhys Archard, Michael Cornish and Donna Gaskin, Gwenda Johnstone, Neville Alport, John Pearson, Dennis Oliver and Belinda Dunn all putting forward nominations for the meeting.
Johnstone will be looking to add another victory to her week, following Blonde's Day Out's win at Wangaratta on Monday.
