LOCAL football organisations - including AFL Goulburn Murray - will follow the AFL's lead in response to the coronavrius.
The AFL announced earlier this week the 2020 home-and-away season was likely to continue as scheduled, however the league would play matches in empty stadiums if required.
This decision would be made in response to a state issued ban on mass public gatherings.
“Our number one priority is the health and safety of all of our people and our supporters,” AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said.
“It is important we take the advice of those who know best.”
Clubs across the AFL have also made changes to their season preparation, with a number of clubs cancelling open trainings and shutting down public entry to the club.
While Australian sport has been mostly unaffected, international events continue to be cancelled or postponed, with the NBA announcing on Thursday afternoon their season would be postponed until further notice.
