Both Emily (girls ages 7-10) and Riley (boys ages 11-14) stormed to victory in their respective classes to add a highlight to their summer school holidays.
And neither could contain their excitement, as Riley said it was all about having fun.
“I'm competitive so I like to race against people especially the friends you make prior to the race,” he said.
“The friendly rivalry makes the race a lot more fun. Having our cousins come up and compete with us makes it a lot more enjoyable.
“The Echuca Moama Tri Club do a great job putting it altogether and it inspires you to compete in the triathlon when you get older.”
Emily said she was happy her and Riley both got to leave the event with a medal draped around their neck.
“We both had a lot of fun,” she said.
“Making new friends is always good because it means you can help each other to make sure you finish the race.”
The multi-sport weekend has become one of the biggest on the Wilkinson family calendar as they look to continue their participation each year.
“We have family members who come up from Melbourne to compete in both the duathlon and triathlon so we aim to make a real weekend out of it,” Emily and Riley's dad Ryan said.
“Every Wednesday we're training down at Winbi and the kids are always looking forward to heading down after school.
“We're very proud of what they achieved on Saturday but the key is they enjoyed the entire day.
“We're extremely thankful for the work the Echuca Moama Triathlon Club put in to host those events.”
In other categories, Ruby Morley finished the girl's ages 11-14 event in a time of 29:45 and Harrison Whan was fastest in the boys’ ages 7-10 class in 10:54.
