During the second leg of last year's Beehag, the team looked well on track for back-to-back wins only for mechanical troubles to end their race early.
Just like 2018, Arkham led at the halfway point pf this year's event with the race record in their sights after completing leg one in under 11 minutes.
But this time there was no stopping them as they raced home to set a new race record of 21:32, eclipsing Hellrazor's record of 21:43 set back in 2013.
And according to skier Reece Simmonds, everything simply went to plan.
“We identified before the race we wanted to be the first boat on the return leg and when we achieved that it put us in the perfect position,” Simmonds said.
“Brett's (Spits) driving certainly helped to put us in a good position, I don't think he could have done it any better.
“It's an absolute thrill to break the record because everyone in ski racing knows just how good of a team Hellrazor were.
“A lot of teams have fallen short in the past and to get there is something we will definitely hold in high regard.”
Had Arkham not finished the first leg as the quickest boat, they may well have found themselves on the back foot according to Simmonds.
“Conditions definitely become more difficult the further down the field you are,” he said.
“There were some places on the course which weren't ideal because of the wind but overall they were pretty good.”
Arkham Asylum would like to thank Moama Water Sports Club for organising the event as well as sponsors.
The team will now turn their attention to the Sydney Bridge to Bridge this weekend.
Defending champion The Mistress was forced to retire in the first leg after a skier fell.
