Two weeks ago, Echuca's reserves side got a look at the team they will be playing on Saturday - Seymour.
And while the Murray Bombers fell just nine-points short of the minor premiers, their scoreline of 8.13 has given them a clear message of what they need to improve to claim the flag.
“We've had a few games this year where our kicking has cost us," coach Troy Murphy said.
“It's been something we have constantly been working at this season, and we saw a lot of improvement on the weekend, we got closer to where we want to be and it gives us a lot of confidence going into the weekend.”
The Bombers finished lower on the Goulburn Valley League ladder than the minor premiers, but had just one game and percentage separating the two sides at the end of the year.
Murphy said the side's form throughout the season had proven what they were capable of on the weekend.
“We had a really good hit out on the weekend," Murphy said.
“We feel like we're pretty well prepared for the contest. We've had success through the season as the team has changed, guys have gone up into the seniors, the line up has regularly changed and yet we've been able to keep having success.
“We trust the game plan we have in place, no matter who lines up in the contest for us on Sunday we have full faith they are able to play the role we require of them, you need that in any football side, and our guys continue to show what they are capable of.”
Now, with the grand final just days away, the group is ready for the contest.
“We've got a lot of young blokes in the side who are pretty keen to get on with it," he said.
“Our opposition in Seymour have had a fantastic season, but we've also had success against them this year. We know what we are going to have to do, and we're really looking forward to the opportunity to hopefully bring a flag home for the club.”
