The Eagles will enter the Murray Netball League grand final against Mulwala as strong favourites having not lost a game this season.
After suffering a loss in last year’s preliminary final – which was the team’s first of the season – coach Jodi Frost said her team is looking to make up for lost time.
“What we have achieved so far wouldn’t have happened without hard work the girls have put in each week,” Frost said.
“There is a lot of excitement around the team and the club this week. It’s an honour to be one of the four teams who gets to represent Echuca United on grand final day.
“We know the pressure is on but I think we’ve been able to handle it all year and I’m hoping we can deliver again this weekend.”
Like many other coaches heading into the grand final, Frost said her team must play the game on their terms if they are to come away with the win.
“Everyone will need to stay calm for the entire game,” she said.
“We can’t afford to think too far ahead because it could be the difference between winning and losing. The goal will be to play each pass as they come.”
While the players will get the plaudits if the Eagles do finish the day as premiers, Frost said the dedication of people behind the scenes have played a big role in her team’s season.
“You don’t get to play in these sorts of games without strong support,” she said.
“We’re really thankful for the way the club has got behind us this year and we want them to know it hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
