ERH information technology manager Brent Colbert said the upgrade would also see an increase in the number of laptops across the organisation.
“Staff will be able to use these laptops remotely and offsite with greater flexibility to input patient information into their medical record, particularly for hospital in the home visits,” he said.
ERH director of finance and corporate services Robyn Rudge said it was an exciting time for staff.
“It's very important to replace the ageing computers,” she said.
“Some of our staff have been losing valuable time waiting for older machines to start up, which can be a very frustrating process.
“It's exciting to see the roll out commence.”
ERH occupational therapist Chloe Juri was the first ERH staff member to receive a new computer.
“We'll now be able to complete all our admin tasks quicker as well as provide us with access to more programs that will streamline our work,” she said.
“Hopefully we will be able to process referrals quicker and see more people in a timely manner within the community.”
ERH chief executive Nick Bush said the link with Bendigo Health will be strengthened by the upgrade.
“We are looking to standardise some of the IT systems so we can improve the care our patients are receiving across the region,” he said.
