Students in years 7 to 12 had groove and feeling as they ran through a full dress rehearsal on Sunday, with the characters from the 1971 musical coming to life in the best way possible.
Harper Raverty and Cameron Weeks are set to play the production’s two leads and you’d think they were born to hand jive baby.
‘‘It’s an awesome experience, a bit tricky, but it’s definitely worth it,’’ Harper said.
The show’s director, Kim McFadden, said the choice in show was the one they wanted.
‘‘It’s been such a great show for the kids, they really enjoy it,’’ she said.
‘‘We have a number of students doing a musical for the first time which has been quite exciting and a lot of them are excited to keep doing musicals in the future.’’
But for the young T-Birds and Pink Ladies, it’s about finding more than just your Greased Lightning.
‘‘I think these musicals give the kids more self confidence. To be able to get up on stage and sing in front of an audience is huge,’’ Kim said.
‘‘It allows them to discover a little bit about who people are in character and that they can be someone or something else compared to what they normally are.’’
So whether you’re a beauty school drop-out, a Rydell High enthusiast or anything in between, you’ll be hopelessly devoted to this show.
So Sandy, can’t you see? There are worse things you can do than head to the Paramount Theatre to support these budding young stars.
The Moama Anglican Grammar students will be performing at 7pm on Thursday, August 8 and a matinee and 7pm performance on Friday, August 9.
