One week until race day

By Jamie Lowe

Local racegoers are preparing for the Deniliquin Cup meeting on Caulfield Cup day.

The popular event on Saturday, October 19, is only one week away.

Marquee packages are keenly sought and as usual there will be TAB facilities, bookmaker, food stalls, bar, fashions on the field and entertainment for the children.

This year’s event will see a beer garden added for the first time to the packages available for the day.

Complementing the already popular corporate marquee and private marquee packages available, the Tipsy Filly Beer Garden will be a large ‘mix and mingle’ area from which you can enjoy the six race card.

Tables of 10 are available for $25 per person, with umbrellas and food platters available at an extra cost.

Similar to the corporate marquee, large TV screens showcasing local and metropolitan races will be available in the beer garden.

The beer garden will also have its own unique bar service.

Caulfield Cup Day in Deniliquin is a chance to dress to the nines in your suit or dress and fascinator and enjoy some traditional country spring racing.

Patrons can dress to impress and try their luck in one of the seven Fashions on the Field categories. There are prizes for the best young racegoers, adults and even Couple of the Day.

Don’t forget to take the family as the event hosts friendly entertainment for the kids and live music from Gomer and the Girl, who will perform into the night.

Bus services to the racecourse will pick up from local caravan parks, hotels and other specific locations.

General entry to the racecourse is $25 for adults, which includes a race book. Under 18s get in free with an accompanying adult. Gates open at 11am.
