There has been a field of more than 100 players every day of the tournament and the first-time visitors have been amazed at the quality of our golf course.
Monday was a fourball best ball, taken out by Robyn Gregson and Lance Fredericks with 48 points, from Gary Davies and Ken Pearce on 46.
Other results include 36 hole events which were to be completed yesterday, plus today’s event, so full results will be published next week.
On Saturday we played the Deni Car Care monthly medal, won by Jimmy Poka jnr with a superb 69 off the stick for a net 66, and he also won A grade. Runner-up Chris Thomson could consider himself pretty unlucky to have a two over par 74, net 67, and miss out on the medal and grade win. The ladies medal winner was Ali Ferguson.
Dick Bolton was B grade winner with net 68, on countback from Phil Hodgkinson, and evergreen Ray Moye had 71 net to win C grade by a shot from in-form Ken Pearce.
Last Thursday, six ladies played off in the medal of medals, with winner being Vicki Brunker on net 74. Marg Rothwell and Marg Radeski played off in the Dorris Everitt Brooch, which was won by Marg Rothwell. The day’s stroke event was taken out by Kym Sandford with net 71.
On Wednesday the A grade winner was Norm Purtill with 38 points, by a shot from Ron Friend. In B grade the scoring was hot, with Jim Hetherington taking the trophy with 42 points, from David Maraldo on 40.
If you need some practice, don’t forget the new driving range arrangements. Buy a bucket of balls for as little as $5 from the pro shop, belt them down the middle and you don’t have to worry about picking them up; the club has a new machine which does all the work.
