The huge commemorative rock is located directly in front of where the school once stood.
The school operated from September 1958 until December 1971 and was located on Tocumwal Rd, near the Pyles Rd intersection.
Attached to the rock are two brass plaques. The first has the names of all known teachers and the school’s badge and the second has the names of every child who attended the school, including Mr Jacob and Mr Savage.
The site is also signposted and has a well-established gum tree that was planted at the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations..
A full history of the school is recorded in the booklet, Tuppal Primary School, which is at local libraries.
Mr Jacob said he and Mr Savage had the rock installed to acknowledge the school and its service to residents in the area.
‘‘It’s important for the history to be told for the many who remember attending the school, and even for those who didn’t attend.
‘‘The rock, along with the signage and tree are ways we can acknowledge the school’s existence given there is nothing left of it now.’’
