The challenge to show essential workers we care during the Coronavirus crisis is being taken up in droves by Deniliquin and district residents.
The ‘Let’s Colour Deni Blue’ initiative has been re-launched by Deni Mental Health Awareness Group, Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee and Deniliquin Health Action Group as a way of saying thank you to everyone continuing to work during the pandemic.
People are being very creative in showing their support, with everything from ribbons to balloon displays, painted nails, wool creatures and even a blue cow made out of old drums spotted this week.
The campaign has also moved to social media, with a special profile picture frame made by a local designer.
‘‘This has turned into a huge show of support, and the town has quickly turned blue,’’ LHAC chair Lourene Liebenberg said.
‘‘It has been absolutely fantastic and we are getting so many messages from essential workers saying how encouraging it is seeing all the blue around town and reading the posts on Facebook.
‘‘So let’s keep this momentum going and keep adding to our fences, our streets, businesses and anywhere we can display our support.’’
