The 140th annual show will be spread over three days with the showgrounds thriving with a variety of sights and activities.
Gates open from 3pm on Friday, March 6, with sideshow alley open until late.
Saturday’s schedule starts from early in the morning, and will close well after the sun goes down with sideshow alley again open until late.
Equestrian activities will then continue at the showgrounds on the Sunday.
As a family orientated event, show pavilion committee member Bronwyn Bathgate said there is a great emphasis on keeping the children entertained.
And you can do it without spending a fortune.
‘‘We will be hosting free activities for children in the pavilion on show weekend,’’ Mrs Bathgate said.
‘‘The 140th show will see the return of the popular ‘I Spy’ game and a new craft area for children to get creative.
‘‘We have found ‘I spy’ is a great way to get children involved.
‘‘Children must look closely and find the things that are out of place in each exhibition section, they will have the opportunity to win a prize if they find them all.
‘‘This year we will introduce a supervised area for children to do craft with materials we will provide.
‘‘They can spend as little or as much time as they like doing crafts, giving parents the opportunity to take their time to look at the exhibitions.’’
This year’s ‘person’ building competition will follow the theme of ‘birthday person’ to celebrate the show’s milestone anniversary.
‘‘This competition is aimed at children either individually, in groups or school groups,’’ Mrs Bathgate said.
‘‘It is always one of the main highlights in the pavilion shed, being placed front and centre.
‘‘We are encouraging children to get to work and start building a person, using any materials, dressed for a party.’’
Show weekend will also include lots of regular favourites including cattle, sheep, horses, working dog trails, and shearing.
Sideshow alley is popular with families and teenagers and brings new and returning classic family fun, including the Cha Cha and bumper cars. There will also be a range of family friendly rides and games for everyone.
This year’s show also sees the highly anticipated return of the demolition derby.
