Cold Chisel will be gracing the region with their pub rock anthems early next year when the group perform at All Saints Estate, Wahgunyah.
The iconic Australian band has today announced that they will be reforming for their Blood Moon tour and performing at the local winery for a Day on the Green on January 7.
Front-man Jimmy Barnes will be joined by Ian Moss, Phil Small and Don Walker, for what will be 14 outdoor shows in Australia and New Zealand.
During a press conference announcing the summer tour, Barnes said that this might be the last opportunity for fans to see the band in this kind of setting.
“I couldn’t see us getting around to do this again.
“We knew that if we were going to get the band back together for another full tour it would have to be something really special.
“We wanted great line-ups and unusual places so that people would remember these gigs for a long, long time.”
Due to feeling more at home in a dimly lit, odious bar complete with sticky floor, this will be the band’s first outdoor tour in forty years, and according to Barnes, they plan to make up for lost time.
“We’re going to treat this like the biggest thing we’ve ever done and the last,” he said.
“It’s going to be big.
“If it had a roof we’d tear it off.”
The band has also revealed that they have plans to release a single in celebration of the tour, whilst Barnes has let slip that there will hopefully be “a new album by Christmas.”
Cold Chisel will be supported by Birds of Tokyo and Magic Dirt for the Wahgunyah performance on January 7, soon followed by Elton John who will be taking to the stage on January 29 at All Saints.
All Saints Estate chief executive Eliza Brown said that the combination of these two a Day on the Green events is an incredible opportunity to showcase the region.
“On top of Elton John, there has been a phenomenal response on Cold Chisel. It will be a massive two weeks of fantastic acts and tourism for the region,” she said.
Pre-sale tickets will go on sale on next Wednesday, October 16 at 2pm through Ticketmaster, while general release tickets will be available from October 21 at 11am.
